Running back Bernard Scott brought some much needed burst to the Bengals run game this past Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. He rushed for 40 yards on 5 carries and had the longest run play of the season against Miami on a 29 yard scamper. Scott injured his left knee early in the game and will now miss the rest of the season. The end of Scott’s season marks the beginning of LB Dontay Moch’s season as he was activated this past Monday to take Scott’s place on the roster. Read more.
The Bengals re-signed safety Chris Crocker today to add some needed depth to the secondary. The team released him back in April but due to numerous injuries to Bengal DB’s he is back with a lot to prove after a poor showing in the his final game last year against Houston. The Bengals placed DE Jamaal Anderson on season ending injured reserve today, Anderson tore the quad tendon just above his knee near the end of the game on Sunday. Veteran DE Wallace Gilberry was signed today to replace Anderson, Gilberry was signed in 2008 as a college free agent out of Alabama and spent 4 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs where he accumulated 14 sacks from 2009-2011. Gilberry signed with Tampa in the off season and was released this past Friday. Read more.
The Bengals announced yesterday that starting LB Thomas Howard is done for the remainder of the year after tearing his ACL in practice during a drill this past Thursday. The team did reach a deal to bring back LB Roddrick Muckelroy who they released in their final cuts after the preseason. Read more.
