Switching sides of the ball today. Bengals’ Talk blog men Nate and Chris wrote yesterday about their picks for the Cincinnati Bengals’ Most Valuable Player on offense. Today, it’s the D. Who has made the biggest impact when it comes to shutting down the other team when they’re trying to move the ball? These two have an idea.
Cincinnati Bengals MVPs – Defense
Chris: My money’s on defensive end Carlos Dunlap. The 7th-year man out of Florida has given opposing offenses a sitting-on-a-tack feeling this season with 5 sacks, 7 passes defended and 2 forced fumbles. He’s also great at swatting the ball away. Those 7 passes we just mentioned? That’s the highest total in the NFL for a non-defensive back player. Dunlap makes his presence felt for the Cincinnati Bengals’ defense, which makes his teammates’ jobs easier.
Nate: Dunlap, Dunlap, Dunlap! I’m going with Carlos Dunlap all day, every day and twice on Sunday! I think it’s pretty clear that Carlos has been the most consistent player on the Bengals defensive line throughout the first half of the season. Overall the defense has not met expectations as a whole and others will need to step up if the team hopes to make a run but I think most Bengals fans are very pleased with what Dunlap has shown week in and week out.
